Cut Out Letters
The basic form of cut out letters is normally referred to as Flat Cut.
The letters or logos are cut from sheet material, and may be flush fixed to the substrate, with either VHB tape or epoxy resin, or mounted on stand-off fixings.
The image to the right illustrates 'Canterbury Pottery' in flat cut out letters with a mirror polished stainless steel finish.
Built Up Lettering
By adding returns to flat cut letters a 3D effect is created, which is typically referred to as built up lettering.
This can be applied to most fonts, symbols and logos. The 'Fargs' image here shows a custom made font, supplied in mirror polished stainless steel.
Locators
To give added depth, to either flat cut letters or built up lettering, locators are employed to attach the letters, which stand-off from the substrate.
Plastic push-fit locators are normally used for lightweight materials, such as plastics, while screw-fixed brass type are used for heavier metal letters, for safety reasons.
Materials
We can manufacture both cut out letters and built up lettering and logos in:
- Stainless Steel - Brushed, mirror polished and powder coated
- Aluminium - Brushed (satin) and powder coated
- PVC Foamboard
- Timber / MDF
- Acrylics
Installation can include Supply & Fit, or we can supply with a fixing template for self-installation. This is a paper template, with a computer drawn image of the lettering, which indicates the fixing positions for the locators.
